Double Trouble: Florida Panthers Reunite Matthew and Brady Tkachuk in Blockbuster Trade

The Florida Panthers have pulled off one of the biggest moves of the NHL offseason, and it’s keeping things in the family.

The defending Stanley Cup champions have officially acquired Brady Tkachuk from the Ottawa Senators, reuniting him with his older brother, Matthew Tkachuk, for the first time in their NHL careers.

The blockbuster deal instantly gives the Panthers one of the league’s most intimidating sibling duos as they continue their quest for another Stanley Cup.

The Tkachuk Brothers Are Finally NHL Teammates

For years, hockey fans have imagined what it would look like if Matthew and Brady Tkachuk played on the same NHL team.

Now, it’s a reality.

While the brothers have represented Team USA together in international competition, they’ve never shared an NHL locker room—until now.

Known for their physicality, relentless forechecking, scoring ability, and fiery competitiveness, the Tkachuks have built reputations as two of the league’s toughest players. Now they’ll bring that energy to South Florida wearing the same Panthers jersey.

What Did the Panthers Give Up?

According to NHL.com, Florida sent a significant package of draft picks to Ottawa in exchange for Brady Tkachuk.

The trade includes:

  • Florida’s 2026 first-round pick (No. 9 overall)
  • Tampa Bay’s 2026 first-round pick, previously acquired by Florida in a separate trade with the Seattle Kraken
  • A conditional 2029 first-round pick
  • A 2027 second-round pick

The haul reflects Brady Tkachuk’s value as one of the NHL’s premier power forwards and leaders.

Brady Tkachuk Brings Another Star to Florida

Brady, 26, served as captain of the Ottawa Senators before the trade and remains under contract through the middle of his seven-year, $57.5 million deal.

His combination of leadership, grit, physical play, and offensive production gives Florida another elite weapon alongside an already stacked roster.

With Matthew and Brady playing together, the Panthers now boast one of the NHL’s most entertaining and physical combinations.

Panthers All-In on Another Stanley Cup

Fresh off their recent championship success, the Panthers continue to show they’re fully committed to competing for another Stanley Cup.

Adding Brady Tkachuk not only strengthens Florida’s roster but also creates one of the NHL’s biggest storylines heading into the new season.

One thing is certain: when the Tkachuk brothers hit the ice together, opponents won’t just be facing one Tkachuk—they’ll have to deal with both.
