Looks like Cardi B is still dealing with fallout from the 2023 microphone-throwing incident — but now, her legal team is calling cap on the whole thing.
On July 26, TMZ reported that Cardi’s attorney, Drew Findling, isn’t holding back in response to a civil lawsuit filed by a woman known only as “Jane Doe.” The lawsuit accuses Cardi of assault, battery, negligence, and emotional distressafter the rapper threw a mic during a wild Las Vegas pool party at Drai’s Beachclub.
But Findling says it’s giving clout chase energy. In a fiery statement, he claimed the case is nothing but a “money-making scheme” and pointed out that both the Las Vegas police and the Clark County DA’s Office had already closed the case long ago due to “insufficient evidence.”
“Apparently the opportunity to try to make money off of a celebrity was too much for some willing law firm to pass up,” Findling said. Oop.
ICYMI: Back in summer 2023, Cardi B was performing in literal triple-digit Vegas heat and told fans to splash her with water to cool down. Things escalated when Doe allegedly threw a cup that included ice, which Cardi says hit her “too hard” and “too fast.” That’s when Cardi launched her mic in the direction of the crowd, and chaos ensued — all caught on camera, of course.
The mic? It later sold for $99,000 at auction, which Doe claims added to her trauma. (Internet says: huh?)
While Cardi hasn’t personally commented on this latest legal twist, she’s got her sights set on her next album, and tbh, that’s where the energy should be. Let’s focus on the bars, not the lawsuits.
TL;DR: Cardi B’s lawyer is calling out a civil lawsuit over her 2023 mic-throwing moment as a cash grab. Authorities dropped the case ages ago, but “Jane Doe” is now suing for emotional distress. Cardi’s staying quiet and focused on her next banger. 🎤🔥💅
