If you grew up in South Florida, chances are you’ve spent at least one Saturday at Claire’s—browsing sparkly earrings, loading up on hair clips, or nervously sitting for your first ear piercing. For nearly 50 years, the store has been a go-to for tweens, teens, and basically anyone who loves a good accessory moment.
But now, South Florida is saying goodbye to several Claire’s locations as the iconic chain goes through another round of financial restructuring.
Claire’s first hit a rough patch back in 2018, emerging from bankruptcy after clearing $2 billion in debt. Fast-forward to 2025: with online competition skyrocketing and the uncertainty of higher tariffs on imports from China, the brand filed for Chapter 11 again last month.
The news? More store closures — and yes, some are in South Florida.
Last week, Claire’s also announced that most of its North American business will be sold to Ames Watson, a Maryland-based private holding company that owns brands like Lids, Fanatics, and Champion.
Here’s the list of South Florida stores (and a few in other Florida cities) closing their doors:
Hollywood – 5121 Sheridan Street #22
Port Orange – 5509 S. Williamson Blvd
Wellington – 10300 West Forest Hill Blvd
Clearwater – 27001 U.S. Hwy 19N
Davie – 2044 S University Drive
Daytona Beach – 1700 W Interntl Speedway Blvd
Cutler Bay – 20505 S Dixie Highway
Cape Coral – 511 SW Pine Island Road #103
Yulee – 463895 SR 200
Miami – 1440 NW North River Drive 350
So if you’re a Claire’s loyalist, it might be time for one last trip to grab those sparkly hoops or plush keychains. It’s the end of an era — but the accessories will live on.
