If sitting on I-95 feels like a full-time job, Miami might be ready to take things to the sky.

Air taxis could soon be flying over South Florida as a futuristic fix to the region’s legendary traffic jams. Billionaire developer Stephen Ross is backing the idea, betting that the solution to Miami’s gridlock is not another lane, but a runway in the air.

The plan centers on Archer Aviation’s new electric air taxis, known as eVTOLs. These sleek aircraft are designed to take off and land vertically like a helicopter, then cruise forward like an airplane. According to Archer, each air taxi can carry four passengers plus a pilot, making short trips across South Florida fast, quiet, and fully electric.

And yes, there is already a price tag being floated around. Rides could start at around $200, with the long-term goal of making them comparable to Uber or Lyft pricing. Not cheap yet, but for anyone who has ever spent two hours crawling from Miami to Fort Lauderdale, the math might start mathing. Miami will serve as the main hub, with routes planned to and from major airports and destinations across the region. That includes Miami International Airport, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, and West Palm Beach. The vision is simple. Skip the highways entirely and fly over the chaos.

“It takes off and lands like a helicopter and flies forward like an airplane,” said Melissa, describing how the eVTOLs work.

If approved and launched, South Florida would become one of the first regions in the country to embrace air taxis at scale. For a city known for flashy innovation, luxury living, and never-ending traffic, flying might just be the most Miami solution possible.

So the real question is this 👀
Would you drop $200 to fly over Miami traffic instead of sitting in it?
