If your dog loves the beach just as much as you do, Miami Beach has a few spots where they can actually join in on the fun.

Miami Beach has three designated Bark Beach locations where dogs are allowed to enjoy the sand and water off-leash during designated hours. Owners still need to carry a leash with them, even while their dog is playing off-leash.

Here’s where to find them:

South Beach Bark Beach

📍 21st Street beachfront

Located right on South Beach, this designated dog-friendly stretch gives pups a chance to run around, cool off in the ocean and play in the sand.

From April through October, the posted seasonal hours are 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Mid Beach Bark Beach

📍 53rd Street beachfront

If you’re closer to Mid Beach, there’s another Bark Beach located around 53rd Street.

From April through October, dogs are allowed on the beach during designated hours from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

North Beach Bark Beach

📍 Between 80th and 81st streets near North Beach Oceanside Park

For those farther north, the North Beach Bark Beach is located near North Beach Oceanside Park. And just to clear up a common mix-up: this is in the North Beach neighborhood of Miami Beach, not the separate City of North Miami Beach.

The posted hours are Friday through Sunday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Can dogs be off-leash at Miami Beach Bark Beaches?

Yes. During designated Bark Beach hours, dogs can be off-leash in the approved dog-friendly beach areas. However, owners are required to have a leash with them.

You’ll also want to bring fresh water, waste bags and something to provide shade if you’re staying awhile — especially during Miami’s hotter months. Salt water and hot sand can be rough on pups, so rinsing them off and keeping them hydrated after beach time is always a good idea.

Hours and regulations can be seasonal, so it’s smart to check posted City of Miami Beach rules before heading out, particularly outside the April-through-October schedule.

So if you’ve been searching for an off-leash dog beach in Miami, your pup officially has a few options. From South Beach to Mid Beach to North Beach, beach day doesn’t have to mean leaving your four-legged bestie at home.
