Looks like Jim Carrey is headed to the future — literally. The comedy legend is reportedly in talks to star in a live-action version of The Jetsons, the iconic ‘60s animated series about a high-tech family living in the year 2062.
The project’s coming from Warner Bros. Pictures with Jurassic World Dominion director Colin Trevorrow set to direct. Trevorrow’s also co-writing the script alongside Joe Epstein, who recently served as showrunner for HBO’s The Idol — meaning this reboot’s about to get a wild mix of nostalgic charm and modern chaos.
For those who didn’t grow up watching reruns on Cartoon Network, The Jetsons first aired in 1962 and followed George Jetson, his wife Jane, their kids Judy and Elroy, plus their robot maid Rosie and talking dog Astro. Think The Flintstones, but with flying cars, robot assistants, and instant food machines. No word yet on who Carrey would play, but fans are already guessing he could bring George Jetson’s anxious, overworked dad energy to life — or maybe even go full chaotic genius as one of the futuristic side characters.
Either way, one thing’s for sure: Jim Carrey plus retro-futuristic chaos sounds like the kind of comeback the galaxy’s been waiting for. 🌌
👀 Stay tuned — if this movie takes off, we’re definitely strapping in for the ride.
